Freelance: Video Game Tester - All Languages

Position overview:

We are currently seeking freelance video game testers (NOT a full-time position) who are willing to work in our office in Berlin. Successful candidates will evaluate the localized content of video games on various platforms in terms of grammar, spelling, context and design. Additionally, testers will ensure that console manufacturers’ terminology guidelines have been correctly followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating localized on-screen text, audio and subtitles
  • Verifying console terminology
  • Bug reporting in online/offline bug databases
  • Cooperating with test leads and international testers

Requirements:

  • Native speaker of the language to be evaluated
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong passion for video games and comprehensive knowledge of video game platforms        (PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Wii, mobile devices)
  • Knowledge and command of various game genres, extensive gaming experience
  • Good knowledge of Pc/Windows/MS Office (especially Word, Excel and Paint)

  • Previous experience in QA or game localization is a plus

Position overview:

Anakan GmbH is seeking a freelance translator for the translation of game content.

In-House: Localization Project Manager, Junior

Position overview:

Anakan GmbH is currently seeking a Localization Project Manager Junior with strong organizational, leadership and supervisory skills to manage our clients’ projects.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform successfully in this position.

The Localization Project Manager. Junior must demonstrate expertise in a wide range of areas. He or she must have a flexible, can-do attitude, be able to work well under pressure and to lead by example. He or she will implement best practices and make improvements to ongoing processes by defining and tracking quality metrics to ensure quality, timelines, and cost-effective delivery of client projects. He or she will also coordinate internal deliveries with all the relevant departments while providing the sole interface for the client. In addition, he or she will assume responsibility for project budget control and financial reporting.

The role of Junior Project Manager requires constant liaising with a variety of high-profile managers and developers in order to guarantee the delivery of projects within a specified deadline and budget. At the same time, the Junior Project Manager must also ensure that projects are held to the highest standards of quality.

Confident customer relations and excellent communication skills are essential.

The position currently available is a temporary contract for 6 months, in-house at the Anakan office in Berlin. However the contract is subject to review near the end of the initial contract period and may be extended.

  • Overseeing daily operations tied to localization

Position overview:

Anakan GmbH is currently seeking an experienced in-house translator (English to German). Translators are responsible for producing complete and accurate translations in accordance with client-specified requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Translating and proofreading game content (in-game text, dialog, user manuals, websites, etc.)
  • Creating and updating terminology lists for different projects
  • Preparing and assisting with audio recordings
  • Instructing colleagues in the use of CAT tools
  • Managing project load for external translators
  • Working with bug reporting databases
  • Evaluating translation tests
  • Managing the translator database

Requirements:

Internship: Translator, English > Czech, Polish, German, Italian, Spanish

Position overview:

Anakan is currently seeking a dynamic and talented person with a passion for video games and translation to fill a translation intern position at our office in Berlin.

The internship will last a minimum of three months. During the course of the internship, the intern will gain experience with several different types of CAT software (TRADOS, Loc Studio, etc.) and will increase his or her knowledge of game console terminology. He or she will also learn about all the different aspects of the translation process, and we will even provide a behind-the-scenes look at video game audio production, which features famous film and television voice actors.

This internship is suitable for individuals who are considering a career in translation and are interested in learning more about the field.

Internship: DTP Operator

Position overview:

Anakan is currently seeking a DTP Operator intern to join our team. We are looking for a creative individual who should have a good knowledge of advertisement design for the printed media. This vacant internship is suitable for dynamic, motivated students who are looking to further learn and develop their graphic design skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and create materials used to package, advertise or promotional company products and marketing programs
  • Clearly communicating new product information
  • Use DTP software to produce a layout for each page of the multilingual publication
  • Select format and fonts, colors, column width and spacing according to provided templates
  • Translate electronic information onto other traditional forms
  • Inform of any missing materials blocking the formatting & layouts of final material

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of electronic graphics programs and computer hardware including;
     Quark XPress, Adobe Illustrator, PhotoShop and InDesign programs.

Audio Marketing Intern

Position overview:

Anakan is currently seeking an Audio Marketing Intern to assist in the coordination and execution of business development and assisting the Audio Manager in organizational tasks. The intern will also maintain and manage database information and conduct market research.
This internship is suitable for individuals who are considering a career in marketing/business development and are interested in learning more about the audio and video game localization fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the development and execution of clients, sales and promotions/press documents
  • Assisting in writing creative briefs and working to develop creative concepts for marketing programs
  • Partnering effectively with potential clients and generating media attention for our audio services
  • Assisting in a day to day tasks of the company’s audio department

Position Overview:

Anakan GmbH is seeking a Linguistic Coordinator with demonstrated organizational, leadership, and supervisory abilities to manage our client’s projects.
The successful candidate will coordinate linguistic projects with in-house and freelance translators, in terms of schedule and production, within a given budget, and be responsible of validating freelancers’ invoices of assigned projects.
This position is full-time and in-house at the Anakan office in Berlin.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assigning work to translators in-house as well as freelancers, setting guidelines and supervising work in progress.
  • Preparing, packaging, sending, and receiving files for translation and linguistic QA.
  • Maintain product specific glossaries, translation memories, and any other linguistic material, and ensure the consistent use of them.
  • Actively coordinate the resolution of linguistic issues.
  • Work with other members of the group, in a team or as a project lead, respecting all procedures.
  • Ensure core product teams produce localization kits and certification kits prior to localization project launches.
  • Proofreading of translations.

 

Requirements:

  • Enjoys managing several products simultaneously and is able to easily switch context between projects
  • Possesses excellent cross-functional negotiation and communication skills
  • Native speaker of Italian as well as an excellent command of the English language (source language of texts) is essential
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Translation experience is required
  • Linguistic Degree is a real plus
